I am Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Memorial University. I completed my Ph.D. at Queen's University.

As a researcher I work on topics related to both macroeconomics and economic history. I use heterogeneous agent macroeconomic models to evaluate public policies related to various forms of inequality. An example of a type of policy that interests me would be expanding tuition subsidies for higher education.

My work in economic history focuses on the long-run impacts of major institutional changes. For instance, I have recently studied how increased formalization of criminal courts in the 19th century affected criminal sentencing outcomes.
